The tomb raider series comprising of 12 mainline entries has as its twelfth entry an extraordinarily sublime game. Released worldwide on 14 September 2018, the shadow of the Tomb Raider is an action-adventure open world game developed by Eidos Montréal alongside Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix. Microsoft Windows, PS4 and Xbox One platforms.
The latest entry to the series brings with it an exciting Peruvian chapter and some additional locations in the Amazon. Lara Croft the main character in the game is able to hold on and survive every challenge the Mayan and Aztec mythology believing locals throw her way, this, of course, depends on how well she’s being controlled.
Having set in motion events that will eventually lead to an apocalypse of some kind in the Peruvian city of Paititi, Lara Croft the main character in the shadow of the tomb raider goes into combat against a very powerful paramilitary force ‘Trinity’ as she seeks to correct the wrong which she had done. She now has to travel the mountain ranges and green vegetation of her host community. She is capable of employing stealth tactics rather than go the kickass way by pouring hot lead into the skulls of her enemies.
Lara can now hold her breath underwater due to the priority ascribed to the use of stealth tactics. She can also cover herself in mud and assuming a perfect camouflage pattern in the distance. This way she’s able to deal with opponents with the use of guerrilla warfare techniques without being seen. Even though the shadow of the tomb raider remains an excellent game to live with it, it does have some restrictions in the type of open world mechanics to adopt.
Another issue seems to come up in the progression of the game, the camera responsible for giving directions at barriers may often become unhelpful and this makes the game really boring. Otherwise, the game remains a highly graphical specimen that takes into the real world with some vibes of horror in between. The shadow of the tomb raider is, therefore, a great game to succeed the Rise of the Tomb Raider.
